1-2-3, Play with Me!!!!
Hi Kiddos (and parents)!
It has been a long time since our last update! Things have been really wild and busy at the Columbus Public Library. Have you been by lately?? If not you should really stop by and see the new layout and check out the area where the NEW TEEN LOUNGE will be located!
I want to tell you all about a new program starting soon at the library.
1-2-3, Play with Me! is a part of the Family Place Library Program. Some employees of the Columbus Public Library underwent training in New York for this program a few years ago. In October the library will implement this program and it is free to the public!
Family Place Library and the 1-2-3, Play with Me! Program is designed for children age birth to 4 years old, and their parents and caregivers. The goal of the program is for the library to become a community hub for healthy child and family development, parent and community involvement and lifelong learning beginning at birth. The program will consist of five programs that will last an hour and 15 minutes where the children will be able to engage in activities that will help strengthen their motor skills and social skills, as well as encourage early literacy. During each program we will have a special guest that will act as our community resource professional. This person will walk around the room and talk one on one with each parent and caregiver about their specialty and also try to answer any parenting questions that the parents and caregivers might have.
Registration is limited to 30 children so please some register soon! You either stop by and pick up a brochure or you can email me directly at estringer@lowndes.lib.ms.us with the following information:
1. Child’s name
2. Child’s date of birth
3. Phone number
4. Mailing address
5. Email address
6. Parents name or Caregiver’s name (if they will be attending the program)
I look forward to seeing everyone at the library for these programs. If you have any questions you can email me or call me!
See ya at the library,
Erin (Youth Services Coordinator)
